How displays are judged
Displays are scored out of 100 points across four categories:
- Quality of Display 30 points
- Signage and overall appearance. Clear labels, readable text, and an organized layout help visitors understand and enjoy your display.
- Rarity of Items 30 points
- The rarity of the items within the field covered by your display. Explain what makes the items unusual or significant within that subject.
- Educational Value 30 points
- What visitors learn from your display. Use research, historical context, and clear explanations to tell the story behind the items.
- Judges’ Choice 10 points
- The judges’ overall impression and the qualities that make your display stand out.
Total: 100 points. Presentation and education together account for 60 points, so give your labels and explanations the same care as the collection itself.
Prepare a clear display
- Choose a focused subject and explain what makes it significant.
- Use labels that visitors can read comfortably.
